October Obsessions

Website
Thought Catalog
So many honestly written articles which make me realise how I'm not alone in my twentysomething worries. Particularly 'How to make friends after you graduate' and 'Why everyone needs to just accept that they're a creeper on the internet'

Exhibition
The Grundy Art Gallery's current exhibition 'Mass Photography: Blackpool through the camera' is so worth a visit if you're in the area. Full of nostalgic images from the early 20th century British seaside to present day stag and hen hotspot, it makes Blackpool feel a lot more interesting.

Tim Brown - Blackpool Tram (1990)
Music
Which leads me to...

Film
Drive.
I loved everything from the silky scorpion jacket to the brutal head crushing and synth pop soundtrack.

Decor Insipration
Apartment Therapy is so full of beautifully decorated rooms and jazzed up furniture. It's pretty much impossible to not find home interiors inspiration.

Fashion
Getting cosy for winter with my new chunky knits courtesy of the Topshop sale. I'm going heavy on the darks and wine red.

Design
I love these movie poster designs by Alien Corset, which I came across in the Richard Goodall Gallery in Manchester.
Nosferatu seems rather fitting.

Tea of the Month
Roobios - OK I only bought it the other day, so it was a late entry to the month, but I feel it was a good purchase.

Like a prayer

...Madonna
I'm not really a big Madonna fan, but I can't think of anything right now, and since it was #1 the day I was born, thought it was quite apt. Maybe?

Today I went to the Steals warehouse. Always a treat, always dangerous. I did manage to resit many of the lovely dresses since I know all too well that I will never get round to wearing them as much as they deserve. This one however, how could I resit? Black, lacey and Christopher Kane for Topshop... £3. Yesss.

As for my other treats, birthday pressies included Topshop summer sandals, Cath Kidston sewing box, apron, button tin and passport holder, a beautifully decorated scrap book ready for me to stick my numerous homeless photos, Lola by Marc Jacobs, and a lovely white coat stand (which for now may well have to reside in my room here, not sure I'll be able to get that on the train). All in all I can safely say I have received no useless presents, they are all perfect :)

FAREWELL TO THE FAIRGROUND.

...White Lies.

These rides are most definitely not working anymore, have headed south and returned to Birmingham.
I only hope I don't have to spend all summer back in Blackpool, as other if it wasn't for placement I would have been SO bored and lonely. Luckily I spent the majority of my break at the Astbury Studio doing various bits of editing and polishing and slicing, which I rather liked, along with the people who were lovely.

My final night out in Blackpool was spent in Funny Girls for a bit of cabaret, plenty of glitz, and men with better legs than me! Then onto Jenx again for a good dance before returning home early to be up at 8am the next day and pack before heading back here.

And now the sun is shining and I'm wishing I was out picnicing rather than sat here with the intention to start work about 4hours ago... Come on motivation! Back to uni tomorrow...yaaaay :|

Bicycle Rush

... Maccabees!

I see now why people are reluctant to go with my bright ideas, which sound like fun in my head, but in reality are painful! Such pain in my knees, my poor little knees! A teeny uphill slope was much a mission that I had to take a lengthy detour through the park to avoid any more mountains (which isn't actually that much further, but when I looked on Google maps, it bumped my journey up to 4 miles each way), and while Matt goes breezing off up the prom like he's on a scooter, I'm lagging behind nearly knocking kids over. I clearly need to stop kidding myself that I'm as fit as I was 3 years ago when I went to the gym and trekked up actual mountains.

So anyway, was supposed to be meeting Jack as well, but in typical fashion he was rather late after a few 'issues' with his bike, resulting in us attempting to look for him cycling up and round the promenade numerous times and returning to Central pier just in case he showed, but no luck. And so we enjoyed a little Starbucks a wander round town (- bank holiday Monday in Blackpool, very busy!) Just as we were ready to leave, 3 hours later we finally hear from Jack who claimed to have been at Central Pier at 3 and waited half an hour - lies - and was now in St. Annes at Matts house. Dear me & LOLZ. A good day never the less, and many a lesson learned,
1. I need to work out, and
2. Mobiles were invented for a reason - charge it!

So Easter weekend over and I'm no closer to starting work, arrrr!

The Coast is Always Changing.

...Maximo Park.

When home is good, it's great, when it's dull, it's awfull.

I wish everyday at home was like the past 2 days (minus boring today, which basically hasn't happened).

My Best Dress =

...Florence and the Machine.

Alright not my best dress, but my latest favorite purchase from Steals, as modeled so kindly by Lily Allen, doubt I'll be popping out to the shops in it as she does though.
£45 in Miss Selfridge, but due a slightly broken zip, which can be fixed very easily, it was £5 :)

I was glad to see Steals back to its original size again, taking up both shop floors, although the prices have shot up a little, no more 'Everything under £5', booo!
The place is magical, and for anyone who knows Blackpool, or me for that matter, will be aware of its brilliance. Topshop, Miss Selfridge & Dorothy Perkins clothing, quite recent, but with something wrong with it and so sold for a fraction of the original price.
One of the few good things attracting me back to Blackpool.
The rest is a mess, most of the shops have either moved into the new center or gone bust due to the recession, and so we're now left with empty shops and an increasing number or poundland types...I can think of 7 off the top of my head. Hard times, yet my parents just can't understand why I'm not inclined to stay and look for a job this summer.

... I also have NOTHING to do. So so boring at home.
